Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,764) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (29,203) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,068) are currently in detention, (10,718) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from May 1 to 29, 2025, the junta killed (21) people in total in Magway Region; (6) women and (15) men, including (7) children under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among the deceased, (13) people were killed after being detained by the junta, marking the highest number of deaths, followed by (6), who were killed by the junta’s airstrikes.
On May 20, at approximately 5 p.m., junta forces conducted an aerial bombing in Ba Hin Village, Myaing Township, Magway Region, despite no clashes taking place. The explosion struck “Ya Min” Diner in the village, and the bomb shrapnel killed the owner, Than Htay, and her son, Htoo Khant Htoo.
