Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Date – 27 May 2025
Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,750) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (29,188) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,055) are currently in detention, (10,705) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from May 1 to 27, 2025, (97) people in total; (66) women and (31) men, were killed by the junta’s airstrikes across the country, including (36) children under the age of 18. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, Sagaing Region records the highest number of deaths with (51) people. (16) people were killed in Bago Region.
On May 25, at approximately 9 a.m., junta forces conducted an aerial bombing using jet fighter aircraft in Kyun Gyi Village, Hin Thar Wea Village Tract, Shwegyin Township, Bago Region. The explosion struck a wedding ceremony in the village, killing 12 local residents, including two five-year-old children, due to bomb shrapnel.
