On May 12, at approximately 2 a.m., around 100 personnel—comprising of junta forces from Infantry Battalion No. (50) (IB-50), based in Gangaw Township, Magway Region, and Pyu Saw Htee militiamen—launched an offensive into Lel Ma Village, Gangaw Township. They apprehended and tortured 11 individuals, including three students and seven members of the People’s Defence Force (PDF), before killing them. Upon withdrawing from the village, they also took several locals with them. On May 17, 2025, all of the captives were released except for Myint Oo, Chaw Maung Maung, and his father Zaw Linn Naing. Myint Oo was later killed at a junta artillery unit, while Chaw Maung Maung was killed inside IB-50.
