Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,696) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (29,156) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,106) are currently in detention, (10,720) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
Due to the deliberate targeting of civilians by junta forces, the number of civilian casualties has been increasing daily. As of May 19, the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) reports (68) confirmed civilian deaths and (25) unconfirmed civilian deaths last week, between May 12 and 18.
On May 12, an aerial bombing targeted a school in Oh Htein Kwin Village, Tabayin Township, Sagaing Region, killing around two dozen students and teachers and injuring dozens more. In addition, junta forces conducted aerial bombings for three consecutive days in Kyauktaw Township and Rathedaung Township in Rakhine State, starting on May 13, killing more than 20 people. On May 15, airstrikes and artillery shelling were conducted across Mandalay Region, Sagaing Region, Rakhine State, and Chin State, resulting in multiple fatalities. On May 18, junta forces carried out an aerial bombing on a school in Nwe Inn Village, Pale Township, Sagaing Region, despite no clashes occurring in the area. The attack killed four individuals, including children.
