Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup
Date – 24 April 2025
Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,557) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (29,065) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,165) are currently in detention, (10,755) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to April 24, 2025, (43) people in total; (22) women and (21) men, were killed by the junta in Mandalay Region, including (6) children under the age of 18. The youngest recorded death was a 4-year-old boy. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, (31) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, recording the highest cause of death.
On April 21, junta forces from the Meiktila Air Force conducted an aerial bombing using paramotors into Than Bo (Ywar Thit) Village, Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region. The explosions struck houses in the village, instantly killing three locals—Kyaw Thu Linn, Tue, and her child Aye Myat Sandar, all due to bomb shrapnel.
