Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Date – 4 April 2025
Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,481) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (28,994) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,168) are currently in detention, (10,747) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to March 31, 2025, (13) people in total who died in formal detention facilities; (4) men in interrogation, (3) men in police stations, and (1) woman and (5) men in prisons, were killed after being detained by the junta across the country. These are numbers that have been verified.
On March 19, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Nay Toe, a youth from Mi Zan Ward, Sittwe Township, Rakhine State, was buying and having snacks near the Korean (BXT) Port when patrolling junta forces hit him before taking him away, accusing him of involvement with the Arakan Army (AA). He was taken to the Regional Operations Command (ROC) in Sittwe Township, where he was tortured. He sustained life-threatening injuries and died three days later while being transported to Sittwe Hospital. On March 21, his family members were told to retrieve his body from the hospital.
