Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Date – 25 March 2025
Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,448) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (28,934) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,140) are currently in detention, (10,717) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to March 25, 2025, (39) people in total; (22) women and (17) men, were killed by the junta’s artillery strikes across the country, including (6) children under the age of 18. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, Magway Region records the highest number of fatalities, with (9) people confirmed dead. (6) people were killed in Tanintharyi Region.
On March 21, at approximately 2 p.m., junta forces stationed in Thein Khun Village, Tanintharyi Township, Tanintharyi Region, fired heavy weaponry into nearby villages. An explosion struck Chaung La Mu Village, instantly killing a pregnant woman, Mee Mae, and her brother, Thaung Pu, while severely injuring two other men. All four were returning home to retrieve rations while they were refuging elsewhere. One of the injured men succumbed to his wounds later that evening.
