Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup
Date – 13 March 2025
Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,401) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (28,834) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,051) are currently in detention, (10,614) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to March 13, 2025, (27) people in total; (14) women and (13) men, were killed by the junta in Mandalay Region, including (4) children under the age of 18, one of which was a boy aged 4 years old. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, (19) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death.
On March 10, at approximately 3 p.m., junta forces carried out an aerial bombing in Aye Kyin Village, Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region, despite the absence of clashes. The explosion hit a dhammarum (a community hall for religious purposes) in the village monastery, instantly killing a young girl, Nann Su Wai, who was inside the monastery compound.
