Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Date – 11  March 2025

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,399) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution. 

Since the coup, a total of (28,800) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,021) are currently in detention, (10,582) of whom are serving sentences. 

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to March 11, 2025, (45) people in total; (24) women and (21) men, were killed by the junta in the Rakhine State, including (12) children under the age of 18. The youngest recorded death was a 2 year old boy. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them,  (40) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death.

On March 9, at approximately 1 a.m., junta forces conducted an aerial bombing in Ba Win Village, Gwa Township, Rakhine State. The explosion struck the village, instantly killing Tun Aung Thein due to bomb shrapnel. His son and daughter, who were seriously injured by the bomb shrapnel during the explosion, are receiving emergency medical treatment.
