Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Date – 6 March 2025

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,381) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution. 

Since the coup, a total of (28,752) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (21,975) are currently in detention, (10,521) of whom are serving sentences. 

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to March 6, 2025, the junta killed (118) women in total across the country; including (17) children under the age of 18 with two girls who were aged 3. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among the deaths, (26) people were killed in Sagaing Region, recording the highest number of fatalities, followed by (24) in Rakhine State. Moreover, among the (118) deceased, (92) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, recording the highest cause of death. This was followed by (21) people who were killed by the junta’s artillery strikes.

On March 1, at approximately 6 p.m., the Taungoo Air Force of the junta launched an aerial bombing on Nga Htway Soke Village, Mone Village Tract, Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region. The explosion in the village killed Naw Pa Tauk War, who had come from Thay Gay Lu Village to seek refuge.
