Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup Date – 28  February 2025

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,364) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution. 

Since the coup, a total of (28,712) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (21,956) are currently in detention, (10,472) of whom are serving sentences. 

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from February 1 to 28, 2025, the junta killed (106) people in total across the country; (53) women and (53) men, including (16) children under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among the deaths, Magway Region recorded the highest number of fatalities, totaling (27), followed by (26) in the Sagaing Region. Among the (106) deceased, (78) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes.   

On the morning of February 25, junta forces conducted an aerial bombing in Chaung Ma Village, Chaung-U Township, Sagaing Region, despite no clashes occurring. The explosion hit the village, instantly killing six locals due to bomb shrapnel. Another injured person later died while receiving medical treatment at a hospital, raising the death toll to seven. Six of the deceased were identified as Htwe Kyi, Chaw Sin Naing, Pauk Tue, Aye Ko, his wife Si, and their daughter Tin Moe Linn. One girl remains unidentified.
