Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Date – 27 February 2025
Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,354) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (28,693) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (21,937) are currently in detention, (10,444) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from February 1 to 27, 2025, (24) people in total; (12) women and (12) men, were killed by the junta in Magway Region, including (3) children under the age of 18. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among the deaths, (16) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes. (6) people were killed after being arrested as human shields by the junta.
On the night of February 24, junta forces carried out an aerial bombing using paramotors in Kin Ma Village, Pauk Township, Magway Region. The explosion struck a house in the village, killing Hlaing Win, Tin Nwet, and Grade-11 student Aye Thiri Kyaw, due to bomb shrapnel.
