Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Date – 26 February 2025
Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,353) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (28,677) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (21,922) are currently in detention, (10,418) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from February 1 to 26, 2025, (19) people in total; (3) women and (16) men, were arrested and are still detained by the junta across the country. Among them, Mandalay Region recorded the highest number of arrests with (8), followed by (5) people in Rakhine State.
On February 19, junta forces arrested five individuals who had fled to Ngathaingchaung Town, Yekyi Township, Ayeyarwady Region, to escape the conflict. They were accused of having ties to the Arakan Army (AA). The arrested individuals are: Thein Oo from Sat Thwar Village, Aung Naing Oo from Nyaungchaung Village, Nyi Lay from Zee Kone Village, Chan Nyein Aung, an X-ray technician from Sat Thwar Rural Hospital, and Moe Htet Kyaw from Jai Kauk Village in Gwa Township, Rakhine State.
