Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,338) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (28,658) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (21,905) are currently in detention, (10,380) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to monitoring by the Documentation and Research Department of AAPP, junta forces have been launching offensives across several regions and states across the country over the past week, killing civilians, abducting them for use as human shields, and burning down civilian homes. On February 15, junta forces launched an offensive into Pwintbyu Township, Magway Region, and abducted locals from Yae Poke Ka Lay Village to use as human shields. On February 17, they killed six of the captive villagers. In addition, on February 19, junta forces launched a ground offensive into Kyauk Sauk Village, Myaing Township, in the same region, setting fire to houses. This killed an elderly woman who was over 100 years old and unable to escape. Around 48 houses were also burned down. On the same day, they also launched an offensive into Pay Gyi Village, Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, shooting and killing five locals and apprehending around 30 others.
The junta has also been conducting aerial bombings. On February 20, the junta carried out airstrikes on villages in Pauktaw Township, Rakhine State; Lauk Hpan Village, Nawnghkio Township, Shan State; and Wea Baung Village, Mongmit Township, Kachin State, despite no clashes occurring. The attacks killed around 10 people, including children, and injured many others. In addition, on February 23, the junta conducted an aerial bombing using paramotors in Mon Hnyin Village, Sidoktaya Township, Magway Region, killing eight people, including a child.
