Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup
Date – 21 February 2025
Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,322) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (28,637) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (21,887) are currently in detention, (10,366) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from February 1 to 21, 2025, the junta killed (67) people in total across the country; (30) women and (37) men, including (10) children under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among them, the junta’s airstrikes killed (50) people, marking the highest cause of death. Among the (67) deceased, Sagaing Region recorded the highest number of fatalities, totaling (19). (8) people were killed in Kachin State.
On February 19, at 1:24 a.m., junta forces conducted an aerial bombing using high-explosive bombs in Wet Yin Village, Dawthponeyan Town, Momauk Township, Kachin State. The explosion struck a house in the village, instantly killing seven family members, including three children.
