Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (6,186) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (28,265) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (21,552) are currently in detention, (10,025) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from February 1, 2021 to December 31, 2024, the junta killed (693) children in total under the age of 18 across the country; (101) children in 2021 and (136) children in 2022, (208) children in 2023 and (248) children in 2024. Among the deaths, (228) children were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death, followed by (209) who were killed by the junta’s artillery strikes.
On the afternoon of December 31, 2024, junta forces carried out an aerial bombing using two aircraft in Yoe Ta Yoke Village, Ponnagyun Township, Rakhine State. The bombing killed Ma Thar Hla from the village, due to bomb shrapnel, as well as Myo Zaw Tun from Kun Taung Village and Oo Hsann Nwe from Tan Khoe Village, who were seeking refuge there. Additionally, Hla Phyu from Yoe Ta Yoke Village and a 9-year-old Myo Hein Aung from San Pya Ward succumbed to their injuries from shrapnel, while being transported for medical treatment.
