Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup
Date – 26 November 2024
Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (5,985) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (27,719) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (21,161) are currently in detention, (9,539) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by the AAPP, from November 1 to 26, 2024, (20) people in total; (9) women and (11) men, were killed by the junta in Rakhine State, including (6) children under the age of 18. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, (19) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes and the other (1) by the junta’s gunfire.
On November 19, at approximately 10:30 a.m., junta forces conducted an aerial bombing in Thin Chi Kaing Village, Toungup Township, Rakhine State. The explosion killed four villagers due to bomb shrapnel.
