Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Date – 22 October 2024
Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (5,871) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (27,569) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (21,026) are currently in detention, (9,474) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by the AAPP, from October 1 to 22, 2024, (26) people in total; (14) women and (12) men; were killed by the junta in Sagaing Region, including (6) children under the age of 18. The identities of whom have been verified. Among (26) deaths, (11) people were killed in various ways after being detained by the junta, recording the highest number of fatalities.
On October 17, around 100 personnel from Division-33 of the junta forces raided Si Par Village, Budalin Township, Sagaing Region, setting houses on fire and killing several locals. When the junta forces left the village on October 19, the bodies of six villagers were discovered. Three of them were decapitated and their heads were hung on fences. Their body parts were dismembered and scattered apart. The other three were shot dead.
