Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Date – 25 September  2024

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (5,700) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution. 

Since the coup, a total of (27,451) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (20,961) are currently in detention, (9,460) of whom are serving sentences. 

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to data collected by the AAPP, from September 1 to September 25, 2024, (4) girls including a three-year old and (6) boys; a total (10) children under the age of 18, were killed by the junta across the country. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among the (10) fatalities, (9) were killed in aerial bombing attacks, while the remaining one was killed by artillery.  Additionally, Rakhine State recorded the highest number of child fatalities, with (3) deaths.

In addition, in the same span of time, the junta killed (4) women and (4) men; a total (8) aged 60-year-old and above, across the country, with Rakhine State recording the highest number of deaths with (3) people likewise. The identities of these victims have been verified. Of the (8) deaths, (6) deaths were caused by the junta’s airstrikes.
