Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (5,602) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (27,317) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (20,844) are currently in detention, (9,374) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by the AAPP, during the period spanning from January 1 to August 31, 2024, a total of (517) people; (149) women, (367) men, and (1) LGBT person, were arrested and still detained by the junta across the country, including(4) people who were re-arrested this year after being apprehended and released by the junta during the Spring Revolution. All of these identities and identifiable data were verified.
Among the (517) arrests, the Yangon Region recorded the highest number of arrests with (139) people, followed by the Mandalay Region with (84) people. In addition, (20) people have been given prison sentences under specious charges by courts subservient to the junta and were still detained after being arrested by the junta this year among (517) detainees. Among them, (2) were sentenced to life imprisonment, and (1) received 23-years imprisonment.
