There are a total of (123) post-coup death row prisoners as of 5 August 2024. (121) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (44) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (167) people who have been sentenced to death. (6,435) people have already been released.

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to data collected and confirmed by AAPP, (380) women died across the country between January 1 and July 31, 2024, due to the junta’s actions. Additionally, the junta apprehended (123) women under political pretenses during this period, with (122) still being detained to this day. During this period, (48) of these women were sentenced to prison under specious charges by courts subservient to the junta, charged under sections of the Penal Code and the Counter-Terrorism Law. Detained female political prisoners across the country have faced life-threatening extrajudicial treatment and relocation, including arbitrary torture by the junta’s authorities, from the time of their arrest, through interrogation, and during their imprisonment. Furthermore, on July 21, female political prisoners in Insein Prison, Yangon Region, were transferred to Daik-U Prison, Bago Region. The organization was able to collect the names and information of (58) female political prisoners who were transferred on that day.

AAPP will continue to provide updates on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences, and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
