There are a total of (124) post-coup death row prisoners as of 3 June 2024. (119) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (43) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (167) people who have been sentenced to death. (6,259) people have already been released.

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the monitoring of AAPP’s Documentation and Research Department, the intense military conflict, between the junta forces and the Arakan Army (AA), has spread to Thandwe Township in Southern Rakhine State. The junta has relied on overwhelming firepower during the clashes, resulting in civilian casualties and death. Additionally, the junta forces have apprehended and killed civilians in large numbers. In Byaing Hpyu Village, Sittwe Township, the junta forces and their coalition forces have killed over 50 of the locals that they had apprehended.

Moreover, on May 31, the junta forces carried out an aerial bombing on Yar Za Gyo Village, in Kale Township, Sagaing Region, where they frequently conducted raids, apprehending and killing locals, and setting fire to civilian houses and belongings. The attack forced the locals to flee for safety.

AAPP will continue to provide updates on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences, and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
