Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (4,946) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution. In addition to the total fatality figure, AAPP has documented around (1,700) deceased persons whose names are unknown and still need to be verified.

Since the coup, a total of (26,573) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power, (20,360) are currently in detention, (8,939) of whom are serving sentences.

There are a total of (123) post-coup death row prisoners as of 26 April 2024. (119) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (43) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (166) people who have been sentenced to death. (6,213) people have already been released.

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by the AAPP, from April 1 to 26, 2024, (5) women and (10) men; (15) people in total were killed by the junta in Rakhine State, with a 10-year-old boy. Among (15) deceased, the number of people killed by the junta’s airstrikes was the highest with (6), followed by artillery strikes killing (5) people making the second highest within the state.

On the morning of April 20, the junta’s navy in Naung Taung Gyi River, near Kyun Thar Yar Village, Myebon Township, Rakhine State, indiscriminately opened fire with heavy weaponry, without any clashes occurring. One of the artillery shells exploded near Pu Sun Dam in Sa Nyin Village, Myebon Township, instantaneously killing May Thandar Khaing, an internally displaced woman from Sa Nyin Village seeking refuge, due to artillery shrapnel striking her chest.

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences, and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
