Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (4,800) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution. There are a total of (123) post-coup death row prisoners as of 29 March 2024. (119) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (43) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (166) people who have been sentenced to death. (6,172) people have already been released.

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to March 29, 2024, (10) men in interrogation, (1) man in police station, and (2) women and (6) men in prisons; (19) people in total, were killed after being detained by the junta across the country.

On March 15, Military Security Affairs personnel and police carried out searches in Dawei Prison, Tanintharyi Region. Subsequently, under the pretext of finding mobile phones during the search, some political prisoners were placed in solitary confinement, as a form of punishment. On March 16, Win Thiha was taken outside the prison, purportedly to question him about the incident. However, he was shot, allegedly for attempting to flee. When his family members came for a prison visit on March 20, they were denied access to him. Then, prison authorities informed his family about his death on March 23. It is reported that his body was not returned to the family.

AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences, and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
