Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,938) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (30,667) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (22,358) are currently in detention, (11,226) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from March 1 to 20, 2026, (44) people in total; (28) women and (16) men, were killed by the junta in Bago Region, including (21) children under the age of 18. The youngest recorded deaths were two 2-year-old boys. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, (33) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death. During the stated period in that region, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (1) civilian, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.
On March 13, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Light Infantry Battalion No. 307 (LIB-307), based in Shwe War Village, Paenwekone Town, attacked villages in Kyaukta Township, Bago Region, using drones and heavy weaponry. The explosion struck Thea Hpyu Ywar Thit Village, killing four members of a family, Win Zaw, his wife Mar Lar Win, and their children Myat Min Thu and Naing Naing Maw.
