⁨Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,944) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (30,687) people have been arrested by the junta in connection with opposition to the arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,406) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,893) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to March 24, 2026, (61) children under the age of 18 in total; (31) girls and (30) boys, were killed by the junta across the country. This includes ‌a two-month-old boy. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among these deaths, Bago Region records the highest number of fatalities with (23) children, followed by (16) children in Sagaing Region. Meanwhile, (36) children were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death.

Starting in early March, junta forces conducted an aerial bombing using jet fighter aircraft on Tigyaing Township, Sagaing Region. On March 10, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the explosion struck inside the monastery compound in Zee Kone Village. The bomb shrapnel killed a total of 10 people, including four novices and one child, all under the age of 18.
