⁨Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,992) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (30,909) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,167) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,875) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

Over the past week, junta forces have continued to commit acts of violence, including killing civilians, carrying out arbitrary arrests, and burning down homes and buildings. On April 22, they launched an offensive into Kyee Kan Village, Natmauk Township, Magway Region, shooting two local brothers and burning their bodies. They also conducted an aerial bombing on Wun Ka Lay Village, Letpadan Township, Bago Region, killing four people. On April 24, junta forces carried out an aerial bombing on Bon Taung Village, Thandaunggyi Township, Kayin State, killing more than ten people, including children. Three local civilians from Shwethaungyan Town, Pathein Township, Ayeyarwady Region, were arrested for allegedly selling goods to the revolutionary forces.

Similarly, on April 25, junta forces conducted a drone bombing on Nga Ta Yaw Village in Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, despite no clashes occurring, killing three children, including a novice. They also set fire to houses in Yae Poke and Zee Hpyu Kaung Villages in Seikphyu Township, destroying nearly a hundred houses, according to information from the ground.
