⁨Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (7,981) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (30,892) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,193) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,878) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to April 22, 2026, a total of (237) people; (115) women and (122) men, were killed by the junta’s airstrikes across the country, including (42) children under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among the (237) deaths, Sagaing Region records the highest number of fatalities with (70) victims, followed by (50) killed in Rakhine State. During the stated period in that region, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (350) civilians, as a result of junta’s airstrike attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On April 16, at approximately 2:30 p.m., junta forces conducted an aerial bombing using jet fighter aircraft on Wun Le Village in Pauk Township, Magway Region. A bomb exploded in the village and the bomb shrapnel instantly killed two civilians, Tin Kyi and Htay Win.
