Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,093) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (31,151) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,306) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,876) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to June 11, 2026, (18) people in total; (8) women and (10) men, were killed by the junta in Mandalay Region, including (4) children under the age of 18. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, (15) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death.

On the morning of May 7, a coalition of junta forces and militia, consisting of approximately 150 personnel, launched an offensive into Min Gyo Village and Taung Lel Taw Village in Ngazun Township, Mandalay Region. Junta forces carried out a drone strike targeting local civilians who were fleeing. The bomb shrapnel instantly killed three members of a family from Taung Lel Taw Village—Pyay Thaung, his wife Kyi Shwe, and their son Linn Hsann Oo.
