Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (5,879) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
Since the coup, a total of (27,569) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power. (21,026) are currently in detention, (9,474) of whom are serving sentences.
These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by the AAPP, from October 1 to 23, 2024, (10) girls and (10) boys; totaling (20) children under the age of 18 including an 18-month-old boy, were killed by the junta across the country. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among the (20) fatalities, (13) children were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, (4) were killed by the junta’s artillery strikes and (3) were killed by the junta who shot them in the head. Additionally, among the (20) deaths, Sagaing Region recorded the highest number of child fatalities with (6) children.
On the morning of October 12, approximately 25 junta personnel raided a grocery store in Ban Du La Ward, Budalin Township, Sagaing Region. They tied up the store owner, Phoe Kyar, before shooting him in the head to kill him. His wife Mar Thin, daughter Khin Moe Thae Oo, son Shwe Phyo Aung, and nieces Htet Htet Aung and May Pyo Pyo were also shot in the head and killed.
