AAPP meeting with Mr. Espen Skran from the Oslo Centre (10/2014)

The meeting with Mr. Espen Skran from the Oslo Centre and the joint secretary of Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (Burma) ( AAPP-B) Ko Bo Kyi, AAPP-B members Ko Saw ThetTun and Ko Zaw Moewas held at AAPP office in Thingangyun Township, Rangoon, Burma, on October 4, 2014.  At the meeting, Ko Bo Kyi explained some topics including (a) how AAPP-B came to Burma, (b) the role of AAPP-B in the Verification Committee for the Release of Remaining Political Prisoners, (c) the condition of remaining political prisoners, (d) land problem and the issue of detained farmers, (e) the President’s power in the parliament and the government, (f) some areas which could be improved and unprogressive situations under President TheinSein.   In addition, he added, the total number of staff members at AAPP-B, its current activities such as data collection, Mental Health Assistance Program (MHAP), Assistance Program for former political prisoners, current political prisoners numbers, their situation and their family members.
