Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,151) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
A total of (31,418) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,477) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,914) remain to be verified.
These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to July 10, 2026, (23) people in total; (8) women and (15) men, were killed by the junta’s gunfire across the country, including (4) children under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among them, Bago Region records the highest number of fatalities, with (8) persons killed, followed by Mon State and Magway Region, where (5) people were killed in both. During the stated period, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (48) civilians who were killed by the junta’s gunfire, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.
On July 8, at approximately 1:00 p.m., a military column including around 60 junta personnel entered Kya Khat Tan Village, Gyobingauk Township, Bago Region and shot Kyi Soe dead while he was working in a field.
