Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,075) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
A total of (31,079) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,258) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,879) remain to be verified.
These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from April 1 to May 31, 2026, (112) people in total; (40) women and (72) men, were killed by the junta across the country, including (21) children under the age of 18. The youngest recorded death was a five-month old boy. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among these deaths, (79) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes marking the highest cause of death. During the stated period, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (215) civilians, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.
On May 27, the military junta under the Northwestern Command Headquarters (Na Ma Kha), based in Monywa Town, carried out a drone strike on villages in Chaung-U Township, Sagaing Region. A bomb exploded in Myin Myay Village, instantly killing a mother and her child, who was under 18 years old.
