Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

As of January 10, (1459) people are now confirmed killed by this junta coup. AAPP compiled and documented (12) fallen heroes today. These (12) fallen heroes from Matupi Township in Chin State, Yinmabin Township in Sagaing Region and Gantgaw Township in Magway Region were killed on previous days and documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue adding as and when.  

As of January 10, a total of (8508) people are currently under detention. (577) people have been sentenced in person, of them 41 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). 1966 are evading arrest warrants. 118 people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 39 sentenced to death in absentia. In total 80 sentenced to death, in person and absentia. The exact identities and total figure remains to be verified, but we will continue to confirm the recently released.

On January 10, State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who was already sentenced to two years imprisonment, was sentenced to another four years in prison under Section 8 of the Import and Export Law, Section 67 of the Telecommunications Law and Section 25 of the Natural Disaster Management Law. 

On January 6 and 7, 10 civilians, including a 13 year old child, were arrested on Matupi-Hakha Road, between Kee Lun and Lawn Law village in Matupi Township, Chin State.  These civilians were taken to the front line by the armed wing of the Junta, and used as human shields. They were killed by the junta on January 8. Among them was Pu Tui Dim, who was founder and chief editor of Khonumthung Media Group and currently working at The Hakha Times.
