Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,028) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
A total of (30,942) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,190) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,874) remain to be verified.
These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from May 1 to 7, 2026, (12) people in total; (1) woman and (11) men, were killed by the junta across the country, including (7) children under the age of 18. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among the deaths, (11) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes marking the highest cause of death. The remaining (1) individual was killed by the junta’s gunfire. During the stated period, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (4) civilians, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.
On May 1, junta forces conducted an aerial bombing with jet fighter aircraft on Khua Pi Sip Village, Falam Township, Chin State. The bombs exploded near a football field, killing seven civilians who were living close by, including a five-month-old baby. Several other civilians were injured due to bomb shrapnel.
