Date – 29 February 2024<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (4,611) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution. In addition to the total fatality figure, AAPP has documented around (1,000) deceased persons whose names are unknown and still need to be verified.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the coup, a total of (26,204) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power, (20,156) are currently in detention, (8,823) of whom are serving sentences.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are a total of (121) post-coup death row prisoners as of 29 February 2024. (119) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (43) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (164) people who have been sentenced to death. (6,048) people have already been released.<\/span><\/p>\n

These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the data collected by the AAPP, from February 1 to 29, 2024, (32) women and (88) men; (120) people in total, were killed by the junta across the country. Among (120) deceased, there are (19) children who were under the age of 18 and (11) elders who were over 60. Moreover, Among (120) deaths, Sagaing Region records the highest number of fatalities with (52) victims and (59) people killed after being detained by the junta, recording the highest number of causes of deaths.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, during the one month, (19) women and (39) men; (58) people in total, have been arrested and are still detained by the junta across the country with Yangon Region recording the highest number of arrests with (14) people.<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, during the stated period, (3) women and (16) men; (19) people in total, have been given prison sentences under specious charges by courts subservient to the junta and are still detained in prisons across the country, with Sagaing Region recording highest number of sentences with (13) people. Among (19) sentences, there are (6) people who have been sentenced to life imprisonment and (2) people who have been sentenced to the death penalty.<\/span><\/p>\n
