Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

According to AAPP documentation, at least (617) houses and buildings have been sealed off by Junta between February 2021 and May 2022.
As of June 8, 2022, (1909) people are confirmed dead and murdered by the junta. AAPP compiled and documented (3) fallen heroes today. These (3) fallen hero from Kani Township in Sagaing Region and Mogaung Township in Kachin State were killed on previous days, but documented today. This is the number verified by AAPP. The actual number of fatalities is likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
As of June 8, 2022, a total of (10989) people are currently under detention. (1119) people have been sentenced in person, of them 73 have been sentenced to death (incl. 2 children). (120) people have been sentenced in absentia, of them 41 sentenced to death. This makes a total of (114) who have been sentenced to death. (21) people have been released on bail and (3036) people have already been released.
Chit Lwin, a palm tree climber from Daung Chan Village in Kani Township (Sagaing Region), was arrested by the armed wing of the junta on June 5, at 4 PM while climbing a palm tree. He was questioned and tortured at a farm, on the way from Nat Myauk Village to Nat Taung Village, and later immolated. In the evening of June 6, Chit Lwin’s body was buried by his family.
Wai Linn from Tha Yet Pin Village in Kani Township (Sagaing Region) was arrested, tortured, and shot dead by the armed wing of the junta. He was an internally displaced person who, on June 3, ran into the junta’s army while trying to briefly go back home.
AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
