Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,023) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.
A total of (30,930) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,178) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,874) remain to be verified.
These are the numbers verified by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to May 5, 2026, the junta killed (174) women in total across the country, including (36) under the age of 18. These are the numbers that have been verified. Among them, Sagaing Region records the highest number of fatalities, with (42) women killed, followed by (40) women in Bago Region. Meanwhile, (122) women were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, marking the highest cause of death.
On April 24, junta forces conducted an aerial bombing using jet fighter aircraft on Lel Mu Thaw Village, Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region. A bomb exploded in the village, killing a 15-year-old girl, Naw El Tu Lo Muu, and injuring several other civilians from bomb shrapnel.
During the stated period, the junta arrested (4) women in relation to the Spring Revolution across the country. Among them, (2) people were arrested in Yangon Region, (1) person in Ayeyarwady and (1) person in Shan State.
