⁨Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup

Since the 1 February 2021 coup, a total of (8,080) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians, have been killed by the junta and pro-military groups during the Spring Revolution.

A total of (31,101) people have been arrested by the junta for opposing their arbitrary seizure of power. Of those arrested, (14,278) are confirmed to still be in detention, while (7,879) remain to be verified.

These are the numbers reported by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.

According to the data collected by AAPP, from January 1 to June 4, 2026, (105) people in total; (54) women and (51) men, were killed by the junta in Sagaing Region, including (17) children under the age of 18. The identities of these victims have been verified. Among them, (86) people were killed by the junta’s airstrikes, recording the highest number of deaths, while (11) people were killed by the junta’s artillery strikes. During the stated period in that region, the AAPP has also received information regarding the death of (249) civilians, as a result of junta attacks, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

On June 1, at approximately 1:00 p.m., junta forces from the No. (8) Military Advanced Training Depot in Shwebo Town, carried out a drone bombing on Shwe Lin Pin Monastery in Si Poke Ta Yar Village, Khin-U Township, Sagaing Region. As a result, Myint and Nyunt Yii, who were helping in the dining hall, were instantly killed from the bomb shrapnel.
