It is reported that Dr. Than Nyein, political prisoner in Prome (Pyay) prison, who has been struggling with serious chronic illnesses suffered additional eye problem (Cataract) as consequence. The request from his family to admit to hospital outside is not been granted by the prison authority.

Dr. Than Nyein has been suffered from long term illnesses involving stomach, liver, prostate, and chronic hypertension with the consequences, and has not been allowed to seek the proper treatment more than one year.

The term to release Dr. Than Nyein who was jailed with 1975 State Protection Act 10 (A) actually overdue and authority continued to detain him.

Meanwhile, another prisoner U Aung Pe, former private tuition teacher, was granted to seek the treatment at the hospital outside for his hernia disease on 15th of this month after repeated request.
