| Torture
is endemic in Burma's interrogation centers and prisons, and serves
the dual function of breaking down suspected political dissidents
and instilling fear into the population. A new AAPP report, The
Darkness We See: Torture in Burma's Interrogation Centers and
Prisons, documents for the first time the true scale of torture
used on political prisoners since 1988.
This section contains photos
of a former political prisoner reenacting some of the torture
methods santioned by the SPDC and used on political prisoners.
These photos show only a small fraction of the torture which political
prisoners have endured.
Photos are available for
use by journalists or any others interested in writing about political
prisoners in Burma free of copyright. |
